Sound Adventures provides formal and informal evidence-based assessment to better understand your child’s learning style, language development and overall communication profile so therapy goals set are most meaningful for your child.
Assessment tools vary from parent interviews and checklists, play observations to more structured table top tools where appropriate.

Mariah Apostolopoulos,
Principal Speech Pathologist

Mariah is the principal speech pathologist at Sound Adventures.
She has over a decade of experience in assessment and intervention of language, social communication differences, literacy and speech disorders in children.
Mariah values the parent-therapist relationship and understands the importance of parent implemented support at home. She is passionate about working with families through family-centred care approaches, developing therapy in fun and enjoyable ways, tapping into children’s interests, curiosity and creativity.
Mariah enjoys chasing rubbish trucks, crafting and going on adventures with her twin boys.
Mariah’s vision for Sound Adventures is to be a safe place for kids to develop self confidence and the functional communication skills they need to thrive in their everyday lives.

Eliana Draper
Speech Pathology — Allied Health Assistant
Eliana is a Masters of Speech Pathology Student at The University of Melbourne who is passionate about providing fun and engaging child-centred support!
From her background in childcare, Eliana has gained experience working in primary schools, tailoring care to each child’s strengths and needs. Eliana values an enthusiastic and collaborative approach, working with children and their caregivers to support children in reaching their communication goals! She is excited to continue developing her clinical foundations in her studies and hands-on experience as an Allied Health Assistant.
Outside of her studies, Eliana fanatically plays Bananagrams, loves to read and attempts to bake!
Alana Rae
Speech Pathology — Allied Health Assistant
Alana is currently completing her final year of a Master of Speech Pathology at the University of Melbourne. She brings a diverse background in journalism and early childhood education in New Zealand, supporting her passion for helping children build strong and confident communication skills.
Alana values building meaningful connections with children and their families, and is committed to delivering therapy that is engaging, individualised, and grounded in evidence-based practice.
Diandra Sartor
Teacher
Diandra has been a part of the Sound Adventures since 2022, supporting our Preparing for Prep and School Readiness Groups. She brings a unique flavour to these groups as an experienced and loved teacher.
Diandra is a mum of three and a has been a primary teacher for 10 years. She’s taught across many primary levels, and also teaches STEM and Italian - both passion areas.
Diandra loves spending time with her family. From park visits, trips to the zoo, going for a walk with the pram and dog, coffee outings to quiet days at home.
Through two brothers’ vivid imaginations and travel dreams, Our Sound Adventure takes young learners on a literary adventure around the world, while introducing them to each consonant sound in the English language.
Exotic flamingos, a baby gazelle, and a collision on the way to the Taj Mahal! Unexpected, fun sentences with a phonics target on each page await fun-loving, globetrotting dreamers.
Our Sound Adventure is written by Mariah Apostolopoulos, a Melbourne-based Speech Pathologist and twin mum, who is passionate about supporting children’s literacy, speech and language learning. Mariah also loves adventures, big and small, with her little loves.
The book illustrations are a work of art, created by Meg Rennie, an award-winning, mixed-media collage artist.
Our Sound Adventure has a high quality, hard cover finish. It pairs with the Sound Deck cards that are designed to grow with your child from toddlerhood, as well as the Sound Reference Chart for school-aged learners.
