Our services.
Sound Adventures provides formal and informal evidence-based assessment to better understand your child’s learning style, language development and overall communication profile so therapy goals set are most meaningful for your child.
Assessment tools vary from parent interviews and checklists, play observations to more structured table top tools where appropriate.

Mariah Apostolopoulos,
Principal Speech Pathologist
BA (Child Psychology), Melb; MSpeechPath, Melb; CPSP
Mariah is a certified, practising speech pathologist passionate about early child development.
Mariah has experience in assessment and intervention of speech and language disorders in the early years, having worked with children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder, Intellectual Disability and various other language, literacy and speech disorders. She works collaboratively with educators, parents and allied healthcare teams across varied settings in early intervention, including childcare centres, kinder and schools.
Mariah has also completed:
Training in the Hanen 'More Than Words®' program;
The Lidcombe Program for early childhood stuttering;
DIRFloortime® certification;
The Social Thinking training model; and
Extensive professional development in the area of early literacy development.
Mariah values the parent-therapist relationship and understands the importance of parent implemented support at home. She is passionate about working with families through family-centred care approaches, promoting language and early literacy skills in the most fun and enjoyable way.
Mariah enjoys chasing rubbish trucks with her twin boys.

Louisa Buchanan
Speech Pathologist

Louisa joined the Sound Adventures team in 2022, with a varied paediatric caseload, in in-clinic, school and childcare settings. She also facilitates and leads the School Support Saturdays program.
With a background in writing and editing, Louisa loves getting to know each client, and collaborates with families in a strengths-based approach that celebrates individuality. Outside of work, Louisa likes to read, write, get into nature with her dog, and spend time with friends and family.
In addition to her work at Sound Adventures, Louisa works as a Speech Pathologist at a primary school.
Diandra Sartor
Teacher
Diandra has been a part of the Sound Adventures since 2022, supporting our Preparing for Prep and School Readiness Groups. She brings a unique flavour to these groups as an experienced and loved teacher.
Diandra is a mum of two and a has been a primary teacher for 9 years. She’s taught across many primary levels, and also teaches STEM and Italian - both passion areas.
Diandra loves spending time with her family. From park visits, trips to the zoo, going for a walk with the pram and dog, coffee outings to quiet days at home.

Introducing Our Sound Adventure.
Through two brothers’ vivid imaginations and travel dreams, Our Sound Adventure takes young learners on a literary adventure around the world, while introducing them to each consonant sound in the English language.
Our Sound Adventure is written by Mariah, who is passionate about supporting children’s literacy, speech and language learning. The book and card illustrations are a work of art, created by Meg Rennie, an award-winning, mixed-media collage artist.
